Pre-incubation & Incubation

GIEC provides comprehensive pre-incubation and incubation support for startups across various sectors. Whether you’re based in Chennai or Pondicherry, our programs offer mentorship, infrastructure, and access to funding opportunities to help you build and scale your startup.

Pre-incubation or Incubation at Chennai

Our Chennai-based incubation program is designed to support early-stage startups in the ideation and growth phases, offering mentorship, infrastructure, and networking opportunities.

Pre-incubation or Incubation at Pondicherry

Located in Pondicherry, this program focuses on nurturing startups and innovators through mentorship and resources tailored to the local ecosystem.

Traditional (Community) Businesses

GIEC invites traditional businesses, especially micro and nano enterprises, to submit proposals for support in the areas we are currently focused on. If your business sector isn't listed, we’ll assess your needs and determine the relevant services we can offer.

Startup Selection Criteria

Application Process: Pre-Incubation (Ideation)

It is a phase to prepare the startup for readiness when the idea is just developed and before formal incorporation. It focuses on ideation frameworks.

The General eligibility criteria for a startup to apply are as follows:

  • Proposals are accepted for Pre-incubation and the registration should be done within 6 months of enrolling for pre-incubation. Basic R&D proposal may be considered under pre-incubation.
  • A startup for incubation, should be preferably registered at the time of application.
  • Shareholding by Indian promoters in the startup should be at least 51% at the time of application to TBI, as per Companies Act,2013 and SEBI (ICDR) Regulations, 2018
  • Startup must have reached to the level of proof of concept/ technology validated in lab (TRL 3-4) to develop a product or a component with market fit, viable commercialization, and scope of scaling.

Note: Funding will be granted only in cases where the proposed project demonstrates proper team, strong financial discipline, clear scalability, significant innovation, and a substantial market size, all of which must be thoroughly justified and approved by the committee.
